Sterling silver, porcelain bottle cap
"Seeking to create a desirable ring for men, I created these rings with historic beer bottle caps made of porcelain. About 150 years ago, there were about 20 breweries in my hometown of Schwetzingen. Today, there are only a few tiny hop fields left. These cap rings are from those older breweries and were used from the years of 1880 till about 1900."
Maker, Carsten Kissner seeks to create jewelry that is innovative and timeless. Here,he captures the essence of time in an exquisite, preserved porcelain bottle cap, enclosed in an elegant fitting of oxidized sterling silver. With strikingillustration upon its surface, theobject revealsan amulet of a German brauhaus (brewery). Oftentimes, Kissner willallow the natural surface of his materials to participate in his artistic narrative. Splendidly, the organic character of thepiece is translated into his final composition. A distinctive work, its maker masterfully emulates powerful charm, propelled by the sheer decision of materialand technique to compose his dynamic collection of works.
